MAC - Troubleshooting ACI Flex on macOS and Complete Uninstall

If you’re having trouble installing, opening, or running ACI Flex, follow the steps below.

Before You Begin

Make sure your Mac is updated to macOS 12.0 Monterey or later.
After updating, you may need to reinstall ACI Flex.

To check for updates:

  1. Click the Apple menu () in the upper-left corner.
  2. Select System Preferences > Software Update.
  3. Install any available updates.

🧩 Step 1: Clear Caches While Keeping Favorites

(This method preserves your saved templates and favorites.)

  1. Click anywhere on your desktop.
  2. From the top menu bar, select Go ▸ Go to Folder...

  3. Type:

    ~/.ACIFLEX

    and click Go.

  4. Inside the .ACIFLEX folder, locate the file:

    mytemplates.xml.enc
  5. Move mytemplates.xml.enc to your Desktop.
  6. Go back one level and delete the entire .ACIFLEX folder.
  7. Close the window.
  8. Open ACI Flex again — a new .ACIFLEX folder will be created automatically.
  9. Drag mytemplates.xml.enc from your Desktop back into the new .ACIFLEX folder.
✅ Result: The next time you open ACI Flex, your favorites and templates will be restored.

🔄 Step 2: Complete Uninstall and Reinstall

⚠️ Important: This process will permanently delete all saved favorites.
(If you want to keep them, complete Step 1 first.)

  1. Click anywhere on your desktop.
  2. From the top menu bar, select Go ▸ Go to Folder...

  3. Type:

    ~/.ACIFLEX

    and click Go.

  4. Delete the entire .ACIFLEX folder and close the window.

  5. Repeat these steps for each of the following folders:

    ~/.roescache
    ~/.ROESEngineCache
  6. Delete each folder and close the window after each.
  7. Go to your Applications folder and uninstall ACI Flex.
  8. Download the latest version from our website:

  9. Choose the version that best fits your system (Non-Java or Java).
  10. Install the software normally.

🔐 Step 3: Allow the Download to Run

If you receive a message saying the app is from an unidentified developer:

  1. Click the Apple menu () > System Preferences.
  2. Go to Security & Privacy > General.
  3. Under the message about the blocked app, click Allow Anyway.
✅ Result: You should now be able to open and run ACI Flex successfully.
